Keeping Things Natural Is Good for Your Skin: A Dive Into Our Ingredient Lists
Our skin is highly sensitive and absorbs everything we put on it.
When Joel, our co-founder, went for his regular surf at our local beach, he found himself thinking about this fact a lot. In a very small nutshell, that was the spark that inspired Sun & Earth.
We wanted to create a product that was filled with protective, safe, and natural ingredients. Through our search, we narrowed down a list of goodies that would make our all-day cream.
We started working with a local beehive to produce our beeswax. We focused on sourcing certified organic coconut oil, olive oil, and cacao butter. We also made a point of only using non-nano zinc oxide, along with food-grade Iron-oxide.
Blended together, our ingredient list ended up being full of skin protective properties. From soothing skin irritation, sealing moisture, and protecting against UV’s and photoaging, our ingredient list keeps any age, or skin type safe.

Beeswax
Sourced locally in north New South Wales, we use beeswax as a base for our all-day cream. Beeswax is part of the honeycombs bees create to store their honey. You might be familiar with this earthy ingredient through candles or furniture wax, but it provides a handful of benefits to the body when applied topically. As a natural, nontoxic wax, this ingredient has dermatological and anti-bacterial properties. Through various studies, Beeswax has shown to soothe skin inflammations such as eczema, and psoriasis. This makes it a stellar ingredient that moisturizes and soothes the skin naturally.
Coconut Oil
One of the most well-known natural ingredients, it made sense for us to include certified organic coconut oil as part of our all-day cream. With its saturated good-fat and acid composition, a small dose applied topically can do wonders to the skin. Anti-bacterial, and anti-inflammatory, Coconut oil stabilizes the free radicals in the body, making it an ideal ingredient for sensitive, and dry skin. But in high dosage, this ingredient is not always the right fit for everyone. Through our careful dosage along with the blend that occurs with other natural ingredients, we ensure to bring out the best of the coconut oil.
Olive Oil
A liquid fat obtained from pressing the oil out of the olive fruit, Olive oil is often used within skincare products to moisturize dry skin and protect against sun damage. We choose to combine it with other ingredients for our all-day cream because of its anti-photoaging properties. Paired with zinc oxide, olive oil acts as an active agent that protects and nourishes the skin while reducing inflammation. Olive oil is an ingredient that blends and enhances the other’s properties, making it an ideal certified organic component for our all-day cream.
Cacao Butter
Cacao butter is obtained from cacao bean nibs that have been fermented, sun-dried, and pressed. Its butter-like texture and soft smell highlight itself naturally through our all-day cream. But beyond smelling nice, cacao butter offers a handful of benefits to your body. Full of vitamin E, it hydrates and soothes the skin. Studies have shown that cacao butter’s nourishment was effective at reducing scars and stretchmarks.
Iron Oxide
Iron oxide is a naturally occurring mineral deposit of iron and oxygen. This compound is often used within cosmetic and skincare products for its pigmentation properties. Within our all-day cream, it is used to settle down our earthy shades: Sandy light, Sunny tan, and Earthy Cocoa. In addition to creating beautiful shades, Iron Oxide's properties have shown to protect from UV and LED lights, while being particularly efficient for darker skin. This makes it a safe, and necessary addition to our ingredients list.
Zinc Oxide Active
Our last yet most important ingredient, Zinc oxide is a natural protection that makes up our SPF 30. Zinc oxide is created out of the combination of the zincite mineral and oxygen. It seals in moisture and protects against UVA and UVB. With our all-day cream, we use active zinc oxide which implies large particle components. These have shown to be safer for sensitive skins than zinc oxide nanoparticles. Its simple yet powerful components allow it to work well with other natural ingredients, looking after all types of sensitive skin.
